Rumours of OPPO’s choice of chipset first appeared in a post on the Chinese social network, Weibo. The post is, unsurprisingly, in Chinese, but it specifically suggested that the Reno6 Pro would house a MediaTek Dimensity 1200 SoC, which is the chipmaker’s current creme de la creme model in its Dimensity series. Besides the switch from a Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC, the post goes on to list other hardware specifics for the Reno6 Pro; the phone is expected to sport a 6.55-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with 90Hz refresh rate, along with a 32MP punch hole selfie camera situated at the top left corner of the display.

On the subject of cameras, the Reno6 Pro’s main shooter will reportedly house a quad-camera setup, headlined by a 64MP main sensor. For battery, the phone is expected to come with a 4500mAh battery and support 65W fast-charging. In other words, everything with the exception of the chipset and battery capacity is identical to the Reno5 Pro. Beyond that, there is no explanation as to why OPPO may or may not be making the switch to MediaTek. In any case, this is still just a rumour, so as always, take it with a grain of salt.
