The announcement came via a blog post on the Crucible website. In it, the devs say that they “ultimately didn’t see a healthy, sustainable future ahead” for the game. As a result, the devs will be discontinuing development for the title. Servers will still remain up for custom games until 9 November. The devs are also offering full refunds for purchases made.

When all is said and done though, it’s not entirely surprising. Crucible, as a name, often led to confusion and comparison with a game mode in the more successful Destiny 2. The game also released with balance issues, and three unpolished game modes. The devs had to kill off two of them shortly after release, and ultimately bring the game back to closed beta.
