Among them is the new Blood Oxygen sensor and app which allows the Series 6 to measure oxygen saturation level within the user’s blood. This particular feature is not something new in the fitness wearable industry though but together with the sleep tracking capability that is delivered through watchOS 7, the Series 6 release finally made Apple Watch felt a bit more complete when compared to some of its competitors. Other than that, Apple also stated that the Series 6 now carries the new S6 dual-core chip which is said to be around 20% faster than its predecessor. Despite the increased performance, the battery life for the new model remains the same at up to 18 hours although the Series 6 apparently requires less time to obtain full charge at under 1.5 hours and some workouts such as running also consume less power. The company also claimed that the Always-On Retina display on Series 6 is 2.5 times brighter than Series 5 when the watch is in the wrist-down state. Users can also utilise Notification Center and Control Center as well as activate complications, and change watch faces without waking up its screen.
The new model also comes with always-on altimeter feature that harnesses the power of its new, more power-efficient barometric altimeter and can be utilised as watch face complication or workout metric. Series 6 also comes equipped with the U1 Ultra-Wideband chip and antennas for future experiences that utilise short-range wireless location capabilities such as digital car keys. The release of Apple Watch Series 6 will mark the debut of the new blue colour option for the aluminium casing as well as (PRODUCT)RED Apple Watch that is paired together with a selection of matching red bands. Apple has also added the new Solo Loop, Braided Solo Loop and Leather Link as well as Hermes Attelage Single Tour and Double Tour into its already expansive family of watch bands. On another hand, the 44mm aluminium case option has a starting price of RM 1899 and RM 2349, respectively. For those who prefer the stainless steel body which comes with cellular capability as standard, the 40mm model starts at RM 2999 while the 44mm variant goes from RM 3249. The release date of Apple Watch Series 6 for Malaysia has not yet been revealed by the company although some of the new watch bands that were announced today are already available for order through Apple Malaysia’s online store.
