Performance-wise, the RT-AX86U supports the Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) on the 160MHz channels, translating to speeds of up to 5700Mbps through the wireless. While also supporting internet speeds of up to 2Gbps, provided your internet provider is able to support and provide said speeds. That isn’t to say that the RT-AX86U doesn’t come with its own set of features. The router comes with a special Gaming LAN port that automatically prioritises the connection of whatever wired device is connected to it. Requiring no additional configuration and just being a plug-and-play port. Having said that, ASUS does allow configurations to be done to the RT-AX86U, especially for mobile devices connected to it through its ASUS Router app. The router also comes with an adaptive Quality of Service (QoS) that allows users to prioritise their network traffic towards different applications. Lastly, the RT-AX86U also supports ASUS’ AIMesh networking technology, thanks in part to the integrated MU-MIMO technology.
Once again, the ASUS RT-AX86U is already available at all authorised resellers and PC shops and retails at an SRP of RM1399. Some of you already know that ASUS also announced a special Gundam-themed variant of the router, although there’s no word from ASUS when or if it intends to bring in that version. (Source: ASUS)
