This was revealed by the Chairman of SPR, Azhar Azizan Harun during a press briefing yesterday. The move was made as an initiative to make the vote counting process more transparent and to spread more awareness regarding the process to members of the public.
In a response to a question from media members during the briefing Q&A session, Azhar has pointed out that the live stream which is being done on a trial basis will be involving only one out of 88 polling streams due to the limitation of broadband infrastructure in Cameron Highlands. Members of the public will be able to tune in to the live stream through SPR’s official social media channels such as Facebook and Instagram. This is certainly a rather interesting move by SPR as the nation’s election system and laws are now being subjected to a reform process which is expected to be completed before the next General Election.
