While it looks like a security camera at first glance, the PowerShot PICK is actually designed to automatically capture meaningful moments. The idea is to have it placed at a strategic location in your home, where it could potentially snap picture perfect instances and also record momentous videos. All captured media are stored in a microSD card which it supports. Featured in the device is a sensor that is capable of shooting 11.7MP photos or recording 1080p videos at 60 frames per second. The PowerShot PICK’s camera also comes with a 19-57mm zooming capability as well as a pan-and-tilt functionality, where it can shift 340-degrees horizontally and 110-degrees vertically. Canon says its onboard AI is able to snap or record intelligently by prioritising specific faces and “capture natural expressions and reactions.” The PowerShot PICK is claimed to be able to last up to five hours of continuous video recording and can be charged via USB-C. The camera supports both WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, and users can manage captured photos and videos via a companion app that is available for Android and iOS devices. Outside of its intended purpose of functioning as a somewhat autonomous photographer for your family, you can also use it as a webcam via the brand’s webcam utility app on computers. Canon says the new product is expected to arrive in Malaysia at the end of the year, and its pricing will be announced by then. For reference, the PowerShot PICK is set to retail at EUR500 (~RM2,405) in European markets later this month. As for colour options, the device will be available in black and white colourways.
