For the uninitiated, Costume Quest is a turn-based, Halloween-themed RPG title created by legendary video game designer Tim Schaefer. The game focuses on one half of a pair of twins who goes on a quest to rescue the other twin who is kidnapped by monsters on the night of Halloween. To be fair, the game is technically less of a typical horror and gore-filled title, and more of a cutesy title filled with scenes and depictions of a child’s idea of robots, superheroes, and – unsurprisingly – rainbow unicorns.
SOMA, on the other hand, is every bit of the psychological, shock-filled horror game one would expect it to be. Made by the same team that gave the world Amnesia: The Dark Descent, SOMA takes place in an underwater base under the deep blue sea. Players are put in the shoes of Simon Jarrett, the protagonist of the game, who is forced into finding out more about the history of the facility and of himself. At the same, he has to deal with an AI known as the Warden Unit.
