To be fair, the Android version of the app isn’t being taken down from the Android ecosystem with immediate effect. Dark Sky says that services to the operating system will begin winding down and fully cease on 1 July this year. At which point, the app will be shut down. On that note, the developer has already removed the app from Google Play, making it no longer available for download. “Our goal has always been to provide the world with the best weather information possible, to help as many people as we can stay dry and safe, and to do so in a way that respects your privacy,” Adam Grossman, co-founder of Dark Sky, wrote in the company’s official blog page.

As for its iOS counterpart, Dark Sky says that its app on the platform will remain unchanged at this point; it still costs US$3.99 (~RM17) to own, and you still get all of the weather forecasting goodness that the app is renowned for. (Source: Dark Sky via The Verge // Image: The Verge)
