According to the announcement made by Anthony Loke, the Minister of Transport, the Cabinet has agreed to extend the full enforcement of the new regulations for three additional months in what has been referred to as a “soft landing” approach. Hence, drivers that have yet to obtain their PSV license are allowed to continue their operation once again until this October. In his announcement, Anthony pointed out that there were 17,596 e-hailing Vehicle Permit (eVP) which involves 4,126 taxi eVP and 13,380 private vehicle’s eVP have been issued by the government. At the same time, 22,981 drivers have also passed the e-hailing PSV tests at this moment.
Meanwhile, Grab has revealed that there was a drop of almost 20% in terms of Grab drivers on the road today which subsequently has affected consumers’ ability to obtain their rides through the service.
