In March, Avenir has launched a fund-raising campaign through Indiegogo by offering the phone for as low as USD 549 (~RM 2,272) instead of its standard price tag of USD 699 (~RM 2,893). In total, the company is looking to raise around USD 1.2 million (~RM 4.9 million) in order to mass produce P18K.
When the campaign reached its deadline this week, it only received support from 11 backers with total funding of USD 15,005 (~RM 61,989). That translates to only 1% of the campaign’s objective which is rather disappointing. Nevertheless, Avenir has stated that the company will continue to further improve the P18K including its design and thickness as the company is confident that there is enough interest for smartphones with long-lasting battery life.
