The new watch is basically a variant of the Garmin Instinct GPS, complete with the same overall design, as well as similar features and functionalities. So you can expect the aforementioned heart and stress tracking, GPS capability, and Garmin’s Body Battery feature to be included on the new Instinct Eports Edition. The only new addition that is exclusive to this model is the ability to transmit the health tracking data via Bluetooth to Garmin’s PC streaming tool called “STR3AMUP!”. This allows gamers to display their heart rate, stress and Body Battery levels in real-time and embedded as part of their live streams. Now that we think about it, it would be fun to see the data on screen when streamers play a stress inducing game such as Among Us or Phasmophobia.
As with other Garmin smartwatches, the Instinct Esports Edition can also be sync-ed up with the brand’s Connect app for users to keep track of their health and stress levels. Unique to the watch itself is a new eSports activity profile that can be accessed in the aforementioned app. In terms of battery life, Garmin claims that the new Instinct variant is capable of lasting up to three days in eSports mode and 14 days in standard mode.
The Garmin Instinct Esports Edition is now available in the US and the UK, and is priced at US$300 (~RM1,245). The company has not revealed if the new watch will be available in other markets including Malaysia. (Source: Garmin [Global website] / Engadget)
