Specifically, in version 14.5.52 of the Play Store, the tech news site discovered a few strings related to downloading and installing a “System Update”. The strings note that the interface elements are similar to the system update page on Pixel devices, which includes prompts to guide users through the update process.

Additionally, there are also strings for notifications detailing the update progress that includes phrases like “Downloading…”, “Installing…”, and “Almost there…”.

In theory, integrating the system updates to the Google Play Store will be beneficial to its users. Google will be able to roll out system updates more consistently and provide a more user-friendly experience to Android. That said, Google often tests new features internally, without ever releasing them to the general public. In other words, there’s no guarantee that this method of updating will kick off, let alone be implemented. (Source: 9to5Google, Android Authority)
