According to multiple sources, the Mate X is set to ship out on 15 November and China is going to be the first country to receive it. It won’t be cheap either, with a retail price tag of 16999 Yuan (~RM10666).
To recap, the Mate X’s “Falcon Wing” display folds outward to reveal an 8-inch display, compared to the Samsung Galaxy Fold which folds inwards like a book. Specs-wise, the phone is powered by Huawei’s own Kirin 980 SoC, a 4500mAh non-removable battery, and the 5G Barong 5000 modem. The phone comes with 8GB RAM and an internal storage capacity of 512GB. At the time of writing, Huawei has yet to specify when the Mate X will reach the global market, and understandably so. Given the current political climate between the US and China, and the former’s trade ban on the company, it’s likely that the Mate X doesn’t come pre-installed with Google’s Mobile Services (GMS).
