According to the complaints , some Xbox Series X controllers were supposedly having trouble staying connected to the console; one user wrote on the Microsoft help forum that his controllers suffered from intermittent disconnections in intervals of 10 seconds, for about five times. Effectively destroying the gaming experience.

— Milton Allemand (@mjallemand) December 31, 2020 The issues aren’t limited to disconnection either. Some users have also shown their Xbox Series X controller having problems synching to their consoles, while other controllers suffer the reverse where their controllers are connected, but button input wasn’t being registered. Fortunately, there is some good news: Microsoft is fully aware of these issues with its Xbox Series X controller and has assured console owners that a fix, which will be made available via a future update, is on the way. In the meantime, it is recommending affected users to update their controllers with a current software update that’s already available on the official Xbox page. At least until the official fix rolls out.

And just to be clear, the Xbox Series X controller issue seems to be isolated to just the console, and there have been no similar issues reported for Windows. That said, it’s unlikely that the issue will pose a problem for us, on account that the console isn’t officially available in Malaysia.
