This is finally changing, with the the new Edge getting a new logo. It still looks to be a representation of the letter “e”, but at least it doesn’t look too familiar to the previous one.

It was buried beneath a hidden surfing mini game in the latest Canary version of Edge. The mini game itself was also part of an elaborate Easter egg hunt, according to The Verge. The Canary version of the new Edge browser has been around for quite awhile now. That said, Microsoft has not yet announced a release version.
