Microsoft has published a post on its Surface IT Pro blog that confirms a number of details. One is that the Surface Duo will indeed start from US$1399. The other is that it will be shipping starting 10 September. The post also mentions an unveiling that happened earlier in the day, but it’s likely one that’s not for the general consumers. We will likely have to wait for that to get a look at the device’s full spec sheet. ORIGINAL STORY (11:08 AM): The Microsoft Surface Duo is reportedly already in production, and will be launched near the end of the month. And unsurprisingly, a new set of leaked official images have found their way onto the internet. These include some extra items that may come in the box when you buy one of these devices. Standard inclusions include the charging adapter and cable. But one odd inclusion looks like an edge bumper rather than a full on protective case. One half looks like it protects the entirety on one half of the Microsoft Surface Duo. The other leaves some part of the bottom unprotected, while the side is a lot thicker and with an indent and smaller cutouts.
The indent is likely to accommodate a side-mounted fingerprint sensor on the Microsoft Surface Duo. When flipped open, you can see it on the side with the power button and volume rocker. Curiously, some of the images also depict the Surface Duo alongside the Surface Pen and the Surface Earbuds. Twitter user @samsungbloat, who shared the images we’ve seen so far, also speculated the price of the device to be US$1400 (~RM5879).
