For those who are unaware, AirPlay is a feature that allows Apple devices to wirelessly stream music or cast videos to compatible devices. Recently, Apple has announced that AirPlay 2 support will be made available to select smart TVs from major manufacturers such as Samsung, Sony, and LG. Judging from the official statement that Netflix has released to The Verge, it seems that the support for third-party devices is exactly the reason why the company decided to pull out the plug on AirPlay support. In the statement, Netflix claimed that the company is now not able to “distinguish between devices” due to the extended third-party support for AirPlay 2. In general, there is usually very little need for users to stream Netflix from their iPhone or iPad to other devices since native Netflix app is available for so many platforms and devices. Nevertheless, Netflix’s decision to discontinue the AirPlay support could be a nuisance to some iPhone and iPad users out there. (Source: Netflix, MacRumors, The Verge)
