According to a report by Protocol, the reference to StreamFest was first found in the code of Netflix’s Android app by the Editor-in-Chief of XDA Developers, Mishaal Rahman. The company subsequently confirmed the event not long after and it was also mentioned by its COO Greg Peters during Netflix’s Q3 2020 earnings call.
For now, the only known market that will host StreamFest is India. Scheduled to take place on 4 December, users will not be required to enter any payment details number to access the streaming service during the two-day event. However, it seems that there may be a limit on the number of people allowed to join StreamFest at one go. This is because the code for the Android app also contained a notice that said “Netflix StreamFest is at capacity”.
Netflix has yet to reveal in-depth details with regards to the StreamFest event and it is not known whether the event would be coming to Malaysia anytime soon. However, it is worth noting that Netflix is already offering a selected number of original contents for users to stream for free right here in Malaysia since last month. (Source: Protocol)
