Information about the new Tiger Lake CPUs were divulged by Intel during its Architecture Day 2020, where it offered viewers a glimpse of its new mobile CPUs along with details about its clockspeeds and power efficiency. As explained by Raja Koduri, Intel’s Chief Architect, he explained that his company’s new CPU has adopted a new “transistor-resilient design” approach when it comes to designing its processors.
Intel’s choice of words also kind of signals the company’s draught with 14nm and ushers in its new 10nm die lithography of its Tiger Lake CPUs. At the heart of the CPU is an intranode called the SuperFin, something that Koduri describes as one of the “largest single intranode enhancement” in Intel’s history. While official performance specs are still unknown, leaked information suggest that the new Tiger Lake CPUs could reach frequencies as high as 4.7GHz which, to be fair, isn’t terrible.
On the subject of Xe-LP integrated GPU, Intel also says that its new Xe architecture will be the official replacement of its Iris HD integrated graphics. And will have a dedicated 16MB L3 Cache, 96 execution units, and the ability to run at a base frequency of 1650MHz and a boost clock of 1800MHz, maybe. For now, we’ll just have to wait until September to learn more about Tiger Lake. (Source: Techspot)
