It turns out that most of the leaked specifications are indeed accurate. The new Z5 is a full-frame mirrorless camera that features a 24MP FX-Format sensor, paired with an Expeed 6 image processor. On top of that, it also has an ISO range of up to 51,200 (expandable up to 102,400) and shutter speeds up to 1/8000.

The camera features an in-body image stabiliser (IBIS) that is capable of reducing shakes by up to five stops. It also boasts a total of 273 on-sensor AF points, as well as featuring Eye-Detection capabilities to quickly track subjects throughout the frame. Video-wise, the Z5 could capture 4K footage at 30p but is affected by a 1.7x crop. On the other hand, 1080/60p recordings will use the full width of the sensor. Also included as part of its features is the new Time-Lapse Movie mode, which uses images from the interval timer to create a time-lapse recording.

The new Nikon camera features a polycarbonate rear and base plates alongside its magnesium alloy shell. Like its other Z-series siblings, the Z5 is also weather-sealed to resist dust and water. On its back is a large OLED viewfinder with 3.69 million dots, and also a tilting 3.2-inch LCD touchscreen. In terms of connectivity, the device offers ports for USB-C and micro HDMI, microphone and headphone sockets, built-in WiFi, and two UHS-II SD Card slots. Powering the camera is a new EN-EL15C battery which offers 470 shots per charge via the LCD and 390 shots with the viewfinder, according to Nikon. The Z5 is also backwards compatible with other EN-EL15 batteries if required, and supports USB Power Delivery for charging.

The Nikon Z5 will be shipped out in August 2020, and is priced at USD1,400 (~RM5,966) for body only. Other than that, it is also available together with either a 24-50mm f/4-6.3 lens or a 24-200mm f/4-6.3 lens at USD1,700 (~RM7,244) and USD2,200 (~RM9,375) respectively. Nikon Malaysia has yet to confirm a local release for the Z5. (Source: Nikon Malaysia)
