According to a report by Astro Awani, PM Muhyiddin pointed out that the term “MCO” is no longer in use. Instead, the more accurate term is “phases” which is how the NRP is being structured.
As you may recall, the NRP is divided into four phases which generally represents the level of restrictions in descending order. The transition from one phase to another is based on three factors including the number of daily COVID-19 cases, occupancy level of ICUs throughout the country, and vaccination rate. For the past few days, statistics showed that the number of daily cases is still more than 5,000. As shown in the table above, that number needs to be reduced to 4,000 and below before the country can move to Phase 2.
— KKMalaysia🇲🇾 (@KKMPutrajaya) June 27, 2021 In fact, there have been 5,586 new cases recorded today according to the Ministry of Health. Even though the National Security Council or Senior Defence Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob have yet to make any official announcement regarding the lockdown extension at the time this article was published, the remark by PM Muhyiddin is already clear enough to indicate that the lockdown is here to stay for the time being.
