The film will be written and directed by Johannes Roberts, who aims to make “an official origin story adaptation with faithful ties to Capcom’s classic survival horror games”. He also says he wants to recreate the experience of the first two games in the series.

The Resident Evil film reboot project also already has the cast for its starring roles, it looks like. Robbie Amell will play Chris Redfield, while Kaya Scodelario will be Claire. Avan Jogia is cast as Leon S. Kennedy, Hannah John-Lamen as Jill Valentine. As for the villains, the film has Tom Hopper as Albert Wesker and Neal McDonough as William Birkin. With what little information that’s available regarding this project, it sounds promising. Though having only done the casting for the main characters, the movie is clearly a ways away. For now it’s probably better to look forward to the CG animated series that’s coming to Netflix next year. (Source: Deadline via PCGamesN)
