According to the game’s website, the setting is France, 1944. Players will be controlling one Karl Fairburne as he makes contact with the French resistance. Together, they uncover a secret Nazi project known as Operation Kraken that will swing the war in their favour. One new addition to Sniper Elite 5 is the new Invasion Mode. Taking inspiration from the Soulsborne titles by From Software, it allows another player to enter one’s game as an Axis sniper. The difference being that the opposing sniper has the power to command other AI-controlled Axis soldiers to locate the player controlling Fairburne. Naturally the game will still include its traditional multiplayer modes. Sniper Elite as a series has introduced us to X-ray kill cams, but has always stuck to the World War II era. Sniper Elite 5 is looking to stick with the formula, while improving on the former. The game releases on 26 May 2022 on PC and both generations of both consoles. In fact, you can see it listed on Steam now for RM80. (Source: Rebellion [1], [2], [3])
