First launched in 2005 and originally released for the PC and original Xbox, the new port-overs are being handled by the Austin, Texas-based developer, Aspyr. On a related note, the studio also says that both the PS4 and Switch version is being brought back as a single-player experience only and will feature modernised controls. To provide a quick synopsis, Star Wars Republic Commando is set during the Clone Wars period of the Star Wars expanded universe and puts you in control of a squad of four highly-trained and specialised Clone Troopers: Boss, Fixer, Scorch, and Sev. Together, the Commandos are set across the galaxy to different worlds, spread across several years. This isn’t the first time Aspyr has revived and ported over older Star Wars titles to the PS4 and Switch. Prior to Republic Commando, the studio was responsible for porting over Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2 to mobile devices, as well as Jedi Academy, Jedi Knight, and Jedi Outcast over to the two consoles.
